Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don’t you just love this holiday? It’s so great to have a whole day dedicated to thankfulness, especially in a country where we ALL have quite a lot to be thankful for.
Yesterday, my husband and I had the honor of joining 100+ other members of our church and meeting at the headquarters of the local Phoenix ministry, Kitchen on the Street. Kitchen on the Street has a mission of, “Turning hunger into hope…one child at a time.” Simply put, they work hard to provide food for hungry children.
Our church has long admired the work they do, and we’re always excited to help them out, especially this time of year.
So, yesterday, many of us joined together in a warehouse, where we spent time worshiping and sharing what we’re thankful for. Then, we got to work!
We’ve spent the last few weeks collecting all kinds of food, and rather than just drop it all off, we wanted to help organize it and pack it up for them. We also packed bags of food that will be distributed to hungry children. Even the kids helped out by packing food and writing/drawing “Happy Thanksgiving” notes to put in the bags of food.
It was amazing to see so many different people come together and work hard for people they don’t even know (and on the night before a MAJOR holiday to boot!).
Today, I’m thankful for our church family, and how they are a constant reminder to us of what is really important.
